    Re: best(cheap) cam swap?

    0.6mm is quite a bit more but I have used Zoran's inner springs with stock outers on some cams with 9.4mm of lift.

      Did you have any problems with that setup?

          Zoran, do your springs from Z-parts with stock retainers will be fine for 10 mm lift?

              I am taking my bike to get a valve adjustment in next week. I have read when they do valve adj. they remove the cams or something. so if thats the case, i am going to grab a 03 F cam , and have them install my F to R and the 03 in front. good for 4-5 hp. i heard.

                  thank you, with that i should be 73/74 hp. ill feel it for sure and then install velocity stacks w/ ram air.
                  i guy on svrider had a image how he did it. 2.5 in flex hose ran it from the opening on the sv S version front fairing side to under tank it actually fits perfect. show image

                    That's only good for tracks with long straights where you are hitting top MPH and it only helps a little. Pointless for street riding.

                      if your going to put ram air in, you'll have to mod the airbox too, so it can become pressurised, or your just flowing cool air into the airbox, rather than pressurised air being rammed in. As swiest152 said it's pointless for the road, you won't feel much benefit until your in the upper two thirds for the rev limit in 5th, 6th gear.

                        Little question - when I'm calculating valve spring ratio, should I take into account tappet and shim weight?

                          Any news on the cam swap potential from the latest Gen3 SV? Is it the same, or better, than the Gen2 swaps for us Gen1 SVers?

                          As I recall, here are the options right now:
                          - Gen1 engines can use their OEM "intake" cams on the exhaust side, and an OEM Gen2 "intake" on the intake side.
                          - Gen 2 engines can swap out their OEM exhaust cams for Gen1 intake cams (same configuration as above but in Gen 2 engine)
                          - I've also heard of some folks using Gen2 intakes on both sides. (

                          Not sure if this last configuration is recommended for the best power. I'd be interested to hear thoughts on this

                          Also any info to share on cam profiles for the Gen3 would be nice. Cheers all!

                          Some cam profile specs I found online (lifts and timings) of some camshafts for the SV:

                          99-02...........In = 8.1/107.........Ex = 6.1/99.5

                          2003............In = 8.7...............Ex = 7.3

                          Yosh............In = 8.8/105.........Ex = 7.2/100

                          JHS..............In = 8.1...............Ex = 8.1
                          Stage II.......In = 8.7..............Ex = 8.1
                          Stage III......In = 9.4...............Ex = 8.7 **

                          MegaCycle....In = 8.2/103.........Ex = 7.6/107.5
                          Stage II.......In = 8.9/101.5......Ex = 8.6/103.5 **
                          Stage III......In = 9.4/100.........Ex = 8.9/104 **
