  • GSXR fork bearing for 1st gen SV

    Hello-
I am doing a GSXR fork conversion on my 2002 SV650S. I know I need a conversion bearing. My question is: Do I need to replace both the upper and lower bearing or just one? If it's just one- which one needs to be replaced?

    Thanks

Today I got the SRAD 750 triple tree.Do you think I should replace the lower bearings just in case? They don't seem too well...

                      TWF bearing and Zoran's instructions

Just got today Zoran's package with the bearing.Read the instruction but some things need to be explained
In red are Zoran's instructions,in blue my questions.

2.File 2 notches deeper so you can punch out bearing race in future.New bearing race is narrower and notches need to be deeper to be able to get under race.

                      i)How much deeper?
ii)When you say "New bearing race is narrower" you mean the inside diametre of the race is smaller (the outside diameter has to be the same otherwise it wolud be loose).Right?

3.Also file edge of step race sits on.Roller bearing has ring holding rollers in place and some time this ring can touch edge of step due to uneven casting.
In the following image can you identify the "step"?How much filling?

Re: TWF bearing and Zoran's instructions

5.Take old race you punched out of frame and turn it up side down and put on top of new race. This will be your driver to drive the new race all the way in until it touches step in frame

                        Which "old race"?
i)the upper bearing Sv top bearing race?
ii)the upper bearing SRAD top bearing race?

6.punch old race out from under
                        :? :? :?
Why can't we just pull it out?Do you mean something else?

                        Some photos may help!

Re: TWF bearing and Zoran's instructions

                          Tolaros,
old race is inside your frame. stock bearing is 3 piece, race on top and around stem, ring with balls and race inside frame. you have to punch it out of frame from other side (under). once you get it out you will see where on frame that race sits. drawings included in instructions are frame. one looking in to hole from top and other as you would cut frame on half and look at section.
I will take pic of frame and show you little later.

Your drawings are OK,I understand them. But about the filing of the casting all around I am not sure I understand
