  • Missing horse power

    Any suggestions here?
Background is 2007 twin spark race loom/throttle bodies & ECU wired to single coil & plug per cylinder. No O2 sensor.
Bike runs fine, no misfire, smooth idle and pick up & revs nicely but is 10 HP down.
Engine refreshed, valves lapped, shimmed. New shells and rings, good compression @ 225PSI. I’ve built dozens of these and never had an issue like this.
ECU swapped on dyno, no change. Cam timing double checked, spot on. All usual checks made and nothing obvious. No fault codes showing.
Tried to check ignition timing but cannot get my strobe working properly, light keeps dropping out when revving the motor, so at the moment I’m not sure if the spark is dropping or my strobe failing.
My feeling is the spark isn’t dropping as the engine remains very smooth.
Does anyone know if a single spark and twin spark flywheel are different? Part number is the same except one ends in F00 and the other F10!
What else can I check once I have sorted my strobe? Any suggestions welcomed.

It might be running in limp mode. But that would show on dyno since it would run very lean.

I would think so, also it would need a fault code to place it in limp mode right?

So after going through the obvious I started to strip the motor, lucky isn't the word. No idea how it happened. Had 230 PSI on both cylinder as was very smooth, no noises. No piston contact either sv head.jpg just down on power!
